The only difference is that they were grown in a laboratory rather than in the ground. Lab diamonds are a 10 on the Mohs hardness scale, and will be just as durable and brilliant as their natural counterparts. They can come in any color, clarity and grade, just as minded diamonds do. Better than Cubic Zirconia or even Moissanite, lab- diamonds are diamonds through and through. Even trained professionals and certified GIA gemologists cannot tell a lab diamond from a mined diamond without special testing equipment. Lab-grown diamonds are created through a process called Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) or High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) methods. In the CVD method, a small diamond seed is placed in a vacuum chamber along with carbon-rich gases like methane, hydrogen, and others. The gases are ionized, and the carbon atoms bond to the diamond seed, layer by layer, forming a rough diamond crystal. The HPHT method mimics the natural process of diamond formation under the earth's mantle by subjecting a diamond seed to high pressure and high temperature conditions, enabling carbon atoms to bond and form a diamond crystal. Both methods can take several weeks to several months to grow a diamond, and the resulting stones are optically, chemically, and physically identical to natural diamonds.

 Mined or lab grown, which is better?
